Karen Knighton lives in Los Angeles and is enamored with small things. She constructs and collects miniature objects, recombining them into her art and animated films.  Her art describe quiet spaces and moments in which subjects participate in simple, ordinary activities.  The imagery is shadowy with muted colors and slight movement.   She explores the boundaries of narrative, allowing temporal gaps and stillness in spaces that define a small collective world.  She is currently constructing things for a new film, drawing bird comics and designing new pillow critters.
